Matthias van den Brande Trio & Bram de Looze

Award-winning trio featuring a top pianist in a zoo

Especially for the Grachtenfestival, the Matthias van den Brande Trio presents a brand-new project, joined by none other than Bram De Looze. The Belgian pianist is regarded as one of the leading European jazz musicians of his generation and has collaborated with artists such as Joey Baron, Thomas Morgan, and Eric McPherson.

For this special occasion, the quartet will perform new repertoire composed specifically for this lineup. A not-to-be-missed concert that brings together the very best of the Belgian and Dutch jazz scenes. All of this takes place in the historic Koningszaal, named after King William II at ARTIS, between chandeliers and a view of the bird aviary in the Plantage back garden.

The Matthias van den Brande Trio was founded in 2021 by Belgian saxophonist and bandleader Matthias van den Brande. Together with two Dutch musicians, Tijs Klaassen and Wouter Kühne, he forms a tight and energetic trio that quickly gained attention on the international jazz scene. Since then, the trio has performed more than fifty concerts across Europe and released two albums that received exciting reviews.
