Junior Grachtenfestival: De Gelaarsde Kat (4+)

Get ready for a fairy-tale adventure full of imagination, fun and beautiful music, because Puss in Boots is coming to the Grachtenfestival on Sunday, 9 August!

In Puss in Boots, the famous fairy tale comes to life in a lively musical theatre performance for adventurers aged 4 to 100. Mezzo-soprano and actress Roza Herwig, narrator Sander Borst and pianist Julius Backer take you on a journey through castles, feline mischief and clever tricks. Together, they bring every character to life, accompanied by music that perfectly matches each twist and turn of the story. From Rossini and Mahler to Gershwin and Annie M.G. Schmidt, festive classical music and delightful musical surprises go hand in hand.

Herwig has performed at venues including the Concertgebouw, Muziekgebouw aan ’t IJ and London’s Barbican Centre. Borst is a bassoonist with the Royal Netherlands Military Band ‘Johan Willem Friso’ and is also active as a presenter and music theatre maker. Backer studied at the Yehudi Menuhin School in London and is currently continuing his studies at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz in Cologne.
