Joshua & Janna
Violin and cello in a green community project
Joshua & Janna present a varied concert in which they bring together music from different styles into a continuous programme. They combine existing works with their own material and improvisations, smoothly moving between classical and jazz.
The programme includes works by Ravel and Bach, alongside lesser-known pieces by Frid, Weill, and Van Geel. They also perform their own compositions and arrangements, drawing on influences from, among others, Jobim and Mengelberg. In this way, a clear and direct musical narrative emerges, in which contrast and cohesion reinforce one another.
Joshua and Janna studied at the Conservatory of Amsterdam and have developed into musicians who move fluidly between chamber music, contemporary creation, and improvisation. Maurer has performed in various leading youth and chamber music ensembles and is currently pursuing her master’s degree at the Royal Conservatoire The Hague. Herwig is the founder of the ensembles Woodcraft and Moon Garden and is an award-winning musician.
