Gerardo Gianolio & Amir Rabinovitz
Baroque and Romanticism by trumpet duo
Two trumpets take centre stage in a programme featuring music from the Baroque period to the nineteenth century. Works by Biber, Purcell, and Telemann are interspersed with virtuosic duets by composers such as Arban and Voxman. The musicians perform on both natural trumpets without valves and modern trumpets, creating a constantly shifting sound palette: from bright Baroque fanfares to lyrical chamber music.
Amir Rabinovitz studied modern trumpet in Aarhus and historical trumpet at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. He performs with ensembles including the Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra led by Ton Koopman and has worked with conductors such as Zubin Mehta and Emmanuelle Haïm. Gerardo Gianolio has worked with orchestras such as Concerto Köln, the Balthasar-Neumann Ensemble, and the Mahler Academy Orchestra, and recently won a position in the academy of the Insula Orchestra in Paris.
