Flatland Prayer
A characterful blend of jazz, folk, and bluegrass
Bassist River Adomeit forms the trio Flatland Prayer together with Antonio Moreno and Līva Dumpe. At the UvA Library, the trio presents an idiosyncratic sound that moves fluidly between contemporary jazz, folk, and bluegrass, which they describe as “contemporary songwriting.”
Moreno’s trumpet does more than carry the melody; it also shapes rhythm and groove. Adomeit composes, Dumpe interprets. Together, they forge a distinctive sound that balances tradition with fresh, contemporary jazz influences.
You can hear it immediately: Adomeit is a natural storyteller. He grew up surrounded by the American sounds of jazz, folk, and bluegrass musical roots he translates into a strikingly modern aesthetic. He refers to this approach as “contemporary songwriting.”
