Flare Quartet
Grachtenfestival joins the WorldPride celebrations at Museumplein
The Flare Quartet joins the WorldPride celebrations at Museumplein with an energetic and thoughtfully curated programme in which classical repertoire and new music are placed side by side. With a strong focus on contemporary composition and close collaboration with composers, the quartet explores how the string quartet continues to evolve today.
The programme features the Second String Quartet by Eleanor Alberga, the First String Quartet by Sem Hak, and the second movement of Ravel’s String Quartet in F major. New music takes centre stage with Ballroom (2026) by Kebra-Seyoun Charles. Together, these works create a rich spectrum of sound worlds, where rhythm, colour and structure take on constantly changing roles.
The Flare Quartet is a young and dynamic string quartet based in Utrecht. Alongside the core string quartet repertoire, they regularly perform contemporary music and enjoy collaborating with emerging composers and artists from outside the classical music scene.
