Feniks Trio & Anuschka Pedano

Rising talent performs Schumann & Rachmaninoff
The remarkably young Feniks Trio shares the stage with a familiar face from the festival violist Anuschka Pedano. These four outstanding young musicians are all studying at the Conservatory of Amsterdam and come together to perform three chamber music masterpieces.

Rachmaninoff composed his first Trio élégiaque when he was only eighteen years old approximately the same age as Feniks violinist Tess Verweij. Its deeply melancholic music immediately draws listeners into the concert. Anuschka Pedano then joins the trio for Turina’s Piano Quartet a work that evokes the atmosphere of a Spanish garden bathed in evening light. The program concludes with Schumann’s Piano Quartet. Although performed less frequently than his famous Piano Quintet it is every bit as brilliant. Its classical structure and transparent writing give all instruments an equal voice. The third movement features an unforgettable cello melody and in the finale the lowest string is tuned down by a whole tone creating a distinctive warm sonority.

In the Uilenburger Synagogue audiences will be swept away by these exceptional young musicians.
