Alfredo van de Munt
Breakfast concert at the Zuidas
Enjoy a morning concert featuring major Romantic piano works. Alfredo van de Munt presents a programme that ranges from Schubert’s free and searching sound world to the drama of Chopin and the virtuosity of Liszt. Three works that each explore the piano’s possibilities in their own way, combining moments of intimacy with bold musical gestures.
Schubert’s Drei Klavierstücke alternate between calm and sudden shifts in mood. Chopin’s Piano Sonata No. 2 in B-flat minor is built around the famous funeral march and combines tension with moments of stillness. Liszt’s Réminiscences de Norma concludes the programme with a technically demanding transcription of Bellini’s opera.
Alfredo van de Munt studied at the Conservatory of Amsterdam and is continuing his training at the Guildhall School in London; he has performed at venues including the Concertgebouw and appeared on Podium Witteman.
